FAQ

CLASSES

Can I attend more than one class?

No, you select one class for the entire time for an intensive learning experience.

Are the McGregor Art retreats only for university students?

No, anyone can enrol, from any sector of the community.

Am I too old?

We have a wide variety of ages attending McGregor Schools ranging from 18 years and up for art classes and students from 15 years and up, for music classes.

What level of health do I need?

Art can sometime be demanding, depending on the subject of your class, we recommend that painters are able to stand at an easel for a at least 2 hours at a time and creative artists are able to bend back and hips frequently and stand for 2 hours at a time. If you are not use to sitting for long periods, then we suggest bringing a cushion to help support your back etc.

ENROLMENT

How can I enrol?

Bookings for each school are open as soon as tutors and arrangements have been finalised, typically 6 or so months in advance of the school. Bookings can be made:

  1. Online, by selecting the school you wish to attend, selecting the class you wish to participate in and selecting the Book Now button.
  2. Over the phone, by calling the Artsworx Box Office on 07 4631 1111.

Class sizes are limited, enrolment is preferred online to ensure your spot. If classes become full the office will accept you onto a waitlist to attend the class. As it is not a guarantee that a spot will become available we do suggest that you enroll into an alternative class you may wish to attend at the same time.

What are the closing date for enrolments?

Whilst enrollments can occur right up until the week before each retreat starts as each class has both minimum and maximum class numbers we suggest that enrolments occur as soon as you have made your decision to attend. As classes with not enough participants may be cancelled before the school commences or classes may become full prior to the commencement. You can join our E-News list to be one of the first to know when a new school is available for enrolment or when new classes have been added. Simply send an email to McGregor@usq.edu.au with your name and email address requesting to be put on our E-News list.

Are there early bird discounts?

Each school offers an early-bird price for you to attend. Make sure you check out the class you are wishing to attend to make the most of this discount.

What happens if I enrol and then can’t attend?

We understand that sometimes life can get in the way of our plans. If you make a booking and are unable to attend the school that you have enrolled into you are able to cancel your booking and receive a refund of your course costs less a $100 non-refundable deposit if the cancellation is made before the final cutoff date for cancellations (usually 1 month before the commencement of the school). Cancellations made after this date would receive no reimbursement of fees paid. Please also note, cancellation of your accommodation after commencement of McGregor Winter School will also incur a $50 fee.

The McGregor Office may waive or reduce the cancellation penalties if a student has cancelled due to a medical condition or bereavement. We ask that a registrant provide evidence of their inability to attend the school.
