About the class
A Touch of Gold with Diane Appleby
7 – 13 Jan 18
Skill: Beginner to Intermediate
Materials: $120 plus a basic tool kit
In this class, while making a pendant or pair of earrings and a ring you will be taught the ancient Korean technique of Keum-Boo. This is a process where a thin 24 carat gold sheet is applied to silver via the process of “diffusion bonding”.
As well as Keum-boo and the ancient Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi you will learn jewellery techniques such as sawing, filing, forming metal, soldering and married metal techniques such as overlay and lamination inlay. Explore design elements of shape, colour and texture when designing your distinctly individual pieces of jewellery.
