Printmaking with Rhi Johnson
Skill level: Introductory to intermediate

This workshop will provide an introduction to a range of Printmaking techniques.
You will cover processes including:
- hard ground etching
Across five days you will learn a range of intaglio and relief printing processes, as well as techniques for print registration and editioning.
You’ll then have the opportunity to utilise these skills to make pages for a concertina book, for which folding techniques and construction of book covers will be shown.
In addition to these traditional techniques, you will explore concept development and different means of mark making and experimentation.
This class is suitable for those 15 years and older, however if you are under the age of 18 please contact the McGregor Office prior to booking.
Dr Rhi Johnson is a Toowoomba based artist and educator who works primarily in the fields of printmaking, artist’s books and mixed media art.
She is interested in the formation of everyday narratives, and how these can be disrupted or subverted visually.
Rhi investigates visual cues that can punctuate an environment, object or space of perceived meaning, and in doing so, may allude to subconscious methods of processing information.
Rhi has been involved in group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally, lectures on a casual basis, and conducts art workshops for all ages.
