McGregor Music Retreat: Bass

It’s all about the bass!

Covering everything from groove to gear, time and tone this workshop will help you gain a great understanding of the role a bass player occupies in a range of musical scenarios/styles.

Geared towards contemporary bass playing, this workshop will cover a variety of techniques to help you improve your playing and become a well-rounded musician.

Appropriate for both electric and double bass, you will take from this workshop an array of performance, composition and practice techniques.


About the tutor: AJ Hall

AJ Hall is an in-demand electric and double bass player from Brisbane.

After majoring in Jazz Bass at the Queensland Conservatorium, he has gone on to work extensively throughout Australia, Europe, the United States and Asia.

During his career, AJ has recorded and performed with many international and local touring artists including: Lior; The Idea of North; and Busby Marou. He has an ongoing passion for music and passing on his knowledge and experience.


 

This workshop is a part of the McGregor Music Retreat. A 7-day summer music program built on a framework that can facilitate musicians of varying experience and ages. The program aims to up-skill musicians through group instrument lessons, ensembles, industry workshops and performance opportunities.
