Sewing Skills and Techniques for the Real Beginner and the Practicing Machinist

This workshop offers a sewing program tailored to your skill level and needs and is suitable for absolute beginners or for the experienced sewer.
Students can choose to make a variety of samples for skirts, dresses, pants and jackets. Exploring anything from invisible zips, neckline finishes and yokes to fly openings, kick pleats and linings.
Alternatively students can bring along a commercial pattern of their choice and be shown how to read, use and create samples from it.
Prior to your booking, please contact Margaret to discuss your requirements including your current skill level and what you’d like to learn. If you don’t own a sewing machine Margaret may be able to assist as she has a range of sewing and over-locker machines.

Margaret has worked for both established and establishing designers as a patternmaker, designer and production manager. She has made costumes for the Queensland Theatre Company and taught patternmaking and body analysis at Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE in Brisbane.
A tutor Margaret has a long history of teaching people how to make their own clothes. She also runs a Wardrobe Therapy service which helps people to build their individual style from garments already in their wardrobe.
