About the workshop
Enter the world of nerikomi – the Japanese technique used to create ceramics from coloured clay!
In two action packed days you’ll cover the process of colouring porcelain, creating coloured porcelain slip, working with coloured clay and drying on plaster.
You’ll look at the process of making a nerikomi cane and complete a small bowl, taking with you an array of techniques which can be applied to your practice at home.
Due to time restrictions a nerikomi cane will be supplied so that the accompanying bowl can be completed within the two days.Materials list
Robyn joined the world of ceramics in 1986 after completing her Certificate 3 in ceramics at Kingaroy TAFE. She later completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Ceramics & Textiles and a Diploma in Ceramics.
Since then Robyn has travelled the world studying the art of different cultures and has been invited to practice under experts in Korea and China. Based predominately on the Sunshine Coast, Robyn’s own practice now focuses on social and cultural issues – with her work acting as a documentation of her acquired experiences and skills.
