Welcome to USQ Artsworx

Supporting emerging and professional artists since 1987, Artsworx is an established arts venue and production house based in Queensland’s largest in-land city, Toowomba.

What we do

Entertain, collaborate and create!

Working with students, professional artists and industry, we create an annual season of high quality, engaging and entertaining artistic experiences and events from our location on campus at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Toowoomba.

The Artsworx team prides itself on excellent events, friendly service and a genuine passion for the arts. Our location and connection to USQ enables us to generate current artistic content that aligns with contemporary arts teaching and study.

As well as our signature experiences, which our audience has grown to love, Artsworx offers a variety of independent theatre, music, film and art productions annually.

Signature experiences

The famous McGregor Arts Retreats have a long history and incredible reputation among Australian artists. Covering visual arts, creative arts and music, McGregor Retreats are a great chance to learn a new skill, foster a talent or master your craft.

A classic film, a comfy chair and affordable food and beverage, Friday at the Flicks is a monthly movie experience where you’ll get the opportunity to view classic, significant and challenging films. A short pre-film talk helps audiences understand the films context, while post-show drinks and nibbles gives you the opportunity to discuss the film with fellow viewers.

Little Village Sessions give USQ music students and lecturers the opportunity to collaborate with a current professional recording artists to create a not-to-be-missed concert. Passed guest artists include Wendy Matthews, Rick Price and Sara Storer.

Artsworx, in conjunction with USQ Creative Arts, showcases a signature theatrical event each year. Typically held in August with a three – four show season, the annual production is a favourite of the Toowoomba community.

Artsworx is the home of USQ creative arts student work. From 1st – 3rd year, students perform and showcase their skills, giving the community the opportunity to enjoy up and coming acts at the start of their careers. Student acts are labelled with a heart in our ‘What’s On’ pages.

The USQ Incubator Series focuses on showcasing raw talent, idea development and concepts rather than ‘polished productions.’ These productions convey a real sense of raw energy and talent, so bring an open mind, and digest some exciting potential laid out in its purest form.

Our space is your space! The Artsworx ‘precinct’ made up of the USQ Arts Theatre, Gallery and Concert hall is available for hire by the community and professionals for various purposes. Giving us the opportunity to host amazing acts, conferences and performances.
